    Hello,

I’m still waiting for a response on my first post, but found something else worth bringing to your attention.

I had to temporarily deactivate this plugin for some compatibility testing and discovered that all of my settings were lost when I reactivated it. This really ticks me off, as I spent a lot of time going through every single option. Most plugins do not lose their settings simply from deactivating and reactivating.

On top of this I found that deactivating does not restore the default permalinks in the HTaccess file. One would have to manually clean up the HTaccess file to remove all of the plugin based rules.

I really think you need to fix both of these issues above. You may also want to add an advanced feature to remove all plugin data from the database as an option. As I said above, deactivating wiped all of the data which is a major inconvenience if you’re testing. It should keep that data in there by default, and have an option to remove it on deactivation if desired.

    I hope this helps…

Hi, you can click on “Undo previous settings” button to restore back your previous settings.
Regarding htaccess not being cleaned up, the HMWP rules should be removed from htaccess file automatically if it’s added automatically, but if you had manually added the rules then you’ll need to remove them manually.

    Hi Suman,

I appreciate your timely responses to both of my posts.

I didn’t realize that clicking “Undo Previous Settings” would restore back the previous settings in this circumstance. It is a little unusual compared to how other plugins function when deactivating/reactivating.

Regarding the htaccess rules, they definitely were not automatically removed when I deactivated the plugin. I allowed the plugin to add them automatically, so they should have been removed like you mentioned. I don’t know why this didn’t work on my end, but it definitely didn’t.

We’ll need to check further why those rules didn’t get auto removed in your website. However, when HMWP plugin is deactivated, those rules in htaccess won’t affect the website.
