Somehow, I just lost ALL configuration data today. I thought it was weird that I was getting a notice that I wasn’t using an active support key, so then when I entered the key, I also noticed that there everything else had been lost as well.
This wasn’t a big deal per se except that I also lost the list of blocked IPs that I had been accumulating, and I’d like to know why this happened and what can be done to avoid this happening again in the future?
Obviously, the data would’ve been stored in the db, so short of having a table dropped, I fail to see how the data can just mysteriously disappear one day. So I welcome your thoughts.
September 19, 2019 at 7:02 am #27622Hi, apologies for the inconvenience caused. Can you please try clicking “undo previous settings” button in Start tab. This will restore the previous settings. We recommend you to backup HMWP settings by clicking on “export current settings” button in Start tab and save it in a text file.
September 19, 2019 at 8:57 pm #27641I exported the current settings (since everything is back to the way I had it before, minus the IP black list), and I pressed the ‘undo previous settings’ button a good 5 times or so, but it’s not bringing back my black list.
It’s not the end of the world, but it seems really unusual (and unstable) that it randomly just lost everything, including even the purchase code. So I’m not sure how else to proceed except to wait to see if it happens again, unless you have any other suggestions.
September 20, 2019 at 3:57 am #27643Undo previous settings will restore last saved settings. So if you have saved the settings again after your IPs were erased, then the IPs won’t be restored.
And yes, if the settings are getting reset automatically then that’s the issue. Please confirm that this auto test is happening, and when it gets reset? Like after re-logging in to backend, after re-visiting HMWP settings page, or any other situation.
Also, note that if you deactivate and then reactivate hmwp plugin then the settings will be blank, and you’ll need to click on Undo previous settings button in this case.
September 20, 2019 at 8:02 pm #27655I’m not sure what auto test you’re referring to, but I’ll keep an eye out for this happening again, though because of the other issue I have a separate thread for, I’ve had to disable HMWP until that’s worked out since it’s leaving my customers confused about why they’re getting a soft 404.
September 21, 2019 at 5:38 pm #27661Okay, let’s solve that issue first then. Thanks!
