EMERGENCY: My programmer has been having many issues with editing the .htaccess file. The permissions are automatically set to 644 since we have Godaddy Linux hosting. When she attempts to edit the htaccess file then the permissions automatically are set to 444. We don’t know why they are being set to 444. Here is what we have done so far:
.) deleted all plugins—That didn’t work
.) Contacted godaddy —they tested it and said “there is no problem with the server”
.) We switched our theme— That didn’t work
.) We moved to a new wordpress (maybe it was our faulty coding). This worked, but only until we added the plugin Hide My WP. Then it didn’t work anymore. We concluded that something was wrong with the plugin.
