    Hi

I cannot activate hmwp plugin on our site. It is giving a 500 error when trying to activate the plugin. I have tried to delete and upload fresh install but same error when trying to activate plugin.

I also disabled all plugins, and tried to activate hmwp alone but got the same 500 error.

This problem is only when trying to activate the plugin.

The issue started when a 500 error showed up when after logging in to wp-admin. I disabled the plugin to remove the error but cannot activate again.

    Wordpress version is 4.41

Note the frontsite is loading fine. Error is only on the backend.

    Please assist.

    Thanks

    Ams

    Hi, try this please:

    – rename “hide_my_wp” plugin folder name under /wp-content/plugins/ directory
    – set htaccess content to WP default (https://codex.wordpress.org/htaccess) or use the backup htaccess
    – change permission of htaccess file to read only
    – login to wp-admin
    – rename back “hide_my_wp” plugin to it’s original name
    – activate HMWP plugin
    – click on “reset settings to WP” button in HMWP start tab
    – change htaccess file’s permission to 644 or 755
    – now apply “medium privacy” settings from HMWP start tab.

Thanks. Did not work. The last option was to upgrade from php 5.3 to 5.6. That fixed it!! what a relief as i wasted the whole day trying to fix.. I thought I let you know php5.3 is a real issue with hmwp. I hope your plugin is backward compatible in the future.

    thanks

Good to know that it’s working now. We hope to make it compatible with older versions of PHP in the upcoming versions of the plugin.
