    Dear Support,

I would like to properly understand how the HMWP plugin work with a CDN provider and possible conflicts with other plugins using CDN URL rewrite techniques.

In my scenario, I am using Media Cloud to currently offload media to AWS S3 and it automatically rewrites the media path with the appropriate CDC url. I also use Wp Rocket (cacheing plugin) to rewrite URL’s for CSS, JS and HTML files.

Would I also need to specify the CDN URL in HMWP in this case? If so, could you please provide clarity as to what exactly HMWP does and if it will impact the above configuration?

    Looking forward to your reply.

Hi, basically, entering the CDN URL is “CDN Path” field in HMWP settings will replace website domain with the CDN url. But if you are using cdn url only for the assets like images and if it automatically rewrites the media path with the appropriate CDC url, then no need to enter CDN url in HMWP settings.

And if you are using WP Rocket, then we recommend you to enable “combine css files” and “combine js files” options, and disable “Optimize CSS delivery” and “Load JavaScript deferred” option

    Thanks Suman.

Just one final question, should I decide to use CloudFront as a complete reverse-proxy for my site (essentially have our primary website URL point to the CDN to serve ALL resources) then I assume that I should at that point configure the CDN settings in HMWP right?

Hi, using CDN or not is your choice 🙂
If all the assets/resources are served from CDN then you’ll need to add CDN URL in HMWP settings.
