    Hi Support Team,

Is it possible to display wp-login.php based urls (login, logout, etc) in a modal dialog?

I am running a multisite and for members to login via wp-login.php?hide_my_wp=1234 is a BIG challenge. It means over 700 bloggers will have to know this url which is a security risk in itself.

The recommended Theme My login plugin is very incompatible with a lot of plugins and is not an option.

Essentially, using a modal dialog means login and logout will always redirect to a given page (i.e. home page), OR the currently viewed page. Other wp-login.php based urls (remember me, password reset) will simply display in modal and display notification if successful.

    Can anyone help with this?

Hi, do you mean to display wp-login.php based urls (secured by HMWP) in a modal dialog without manually typing “wp-login.php?hide_my_wp=1234”? If so, then the answer is no. If you secure the login URL with HMWP admin key then you’ll need to remember it. In a WP single site it’s not an issue but in case of WP multisite like yours it may not be feasible. But unfortunately there is no other option, either hide login url and remember admin key or do not hide login url.
I’ll forward this ticket to our Sr. team member so that we can think of some options for the upcoming versions of the plugin.

    Hi Suman,

I think the either/or option with HMWP is constraining me a great deal.

I stumbled across the Modal Login plugin via google and it seems to solve my problem a lot but I fear its compatibility with HMWP.

Apparently, it has got some features that HMWP provides and I am thinking that either one gets RHL and integrates the HMWP codebase at its Admin and Login Section since its all about writing rewrite rules to .htaccess, or HMWP development team provides these killer features thereby providing alternative options, or HMWP support team providing code snippets for plugging in and choosing which features come from which of the 2 plugins.

Personally, for example, I think the panic key feature sort of mimics the hide_my_wp=1234 feature except that its more user friendly.

Any thoughts on this before Sr. Admin makes an input?

    Thanks

You can use Modal Login plugin or any other plugin, but make sure that you do not enable same feature in both the plugins. Currently HMWP doesn’t have modal login feature and doesn’t provide code snippets.
