i contacted SiteGround web hosting services because i kept getting 504 Gateway Timeout when accessing the wordpress admin. sometimes during a day, it causes timeout 3-4 times. because i’m using shared hosting services with limited cpu cycles, somehow, if i deactivated HMWP plugin for two – three days now, it looks like i’m not getting any 504 Gateway Errors anymore.

can i know what is going on ?

Hi, please let us know your website’s wp-admin details (as private reply) so that we can have a look at the issue.

Hi, I tried activating HMWP in your site but couldn’t reproduce the issue (site was working fine). Also, are you getting 504 error only in wp-admin section? And can you please check your server error log for the details of this error?

    Hi-

This error simply means your server can’t response to your request timely.

You have installed 57 plugins on your host and some of them are really heavy (WooCommerce, iThemes Security). This is too much for a shared hosting Specially when you have real visitors!

You’re right about HMWP but you may get the same result by deactivating other heavy plugins.

I suggest deactivating plugins which are not a must for your business. It’s also helpful to use a caching plugin. If none of them work for you this means you need a better hosting plan.
