    Hi sir,

I have done the following procedures many times at Bluehost when creating a development/test site on a new domain:

    1. Backup both files and database using this plugins: BackUpWordPress

    2. Restore them into a new domain site by:
    -uploading files to FTP server
-Update wp-config.php with new database details
-In SSH import database into a new database created for the new domain site
-In phpMyAdmin update URLs with new domain name

    3. After I have done restoration above, I could log into a new WP admin via:

    https://www.mynewdomain.com/my-log-panel (for example)

    4. Then I installed and activated a plugins called Better Search Replace so that I can replace all internal links (old domain) with the new domain.

Those procedures have been done so many times without a single errors and work perfectly at Bluehost shared hosting.

However, they dont work when migrating my WordPress site to a VPS server at A2hosting provider because all internal links are still pointed to old domain, but the home page can be displayed with a new domain (please check my test site below).

    I have fixed the followings:

-Updated .htaccess by replacing old domain with a new domain

    But nothing works so far.

Can you please help and advise what could cause this issue?

    I very appreciate your support.

    Regards

    Thon

Hi, the issue doesn’t seem to be related to HMWP plugin. We recommend you to deactivate HMWP plugin until the migration is complete and successful. And unfortunately, we cannot help much regarding the migration issue as it’s out of scope of our support. We recommend you to contact your hosting provider regarding it. Thanks for your understanding.

    thanks for your reply.

I do understand what you mean. However, could you give me a clue of what could cause such issues so that I could conduct own inestigation?

    Cheers

Hi, what I meant to say is that the above issue seems to be migration related and not related to HMWP plugin. WHile doing migration you can simply deactivate HMWP plugin, and after migration is done you can activate HMWP in new site.

However, they dont work when migrating my WordPress site to a VPS server at A2hosting provider because all internal links are still pointed to old domain,

    Hi,

    Thank you for your support.

As mentioned in my initial post above, I normally copy my live site into a development site with different domain (new domain).

When it was at Bluehost, there was no issue at all as I followed the above procedures. All internal links with old domain can be replaced by new domain using Better Search Replace plugins.

When I migrated my live site, there was no issue initially as I made sure it work before I destroyed my live site at Bluehost – I mean I restore my live site on a new domain at A2hosting first to see if it works using the above procedure; it worked indeed. Then I moved my live site to A2hosting.

I am not sure what A2hosting has done to my vps server because that procedure no longer works even I restore a copy of my live site into a new domain on the same vps server. All internal links are still pointed to old domain of my live site.

That is the issue I have right now. I did open a ticket for A2hosting to help, but they seems not helpful.

    I appreciate your advice.

Hi, unfortunately we can not help much in this as it is out of scope of our support and we are no expert in migration. Thanks for your understanding.
