    Hi!

    I have been unable to get that 777 (or even a 775) permission change with my hosting provider. They state the following:

    It was stated that the plugin Hide My WordPress requires permissions of 777. This is something that we do not allow on our infrastructure, as permissions of 664 allow Read and Write privileges for the file’s User and Group. More information on this can be found here: http://wpengine.com/support/file-permissions/ In this case, we strongly recommend reaching out to the Developer of this plugin to request that they provide assistance with changing the permission requirements for this plugin. Permissions of 777 allow full access to a file for anyone, and we find that the great majority of plugins can accomplish the same task with file permissions of 664.

    What can I do about this?

    You don’t need it for WPEngine!
