    I use “/X/pages” for the Page Base field and “x-pages” for the Page Query field. When I go to pages, I receive an error page not found.

    Hi, we recommend you to change this setting only if your site is a new one, or else it can impact in SEO. Also, this setting might conflict depending on other plugins and theme being used. Can you please let us know the actual URLs and the renamed URLs (full path with domain name) in the question above so that we can check?
