The WP media manager of a subsite on my subfolder-based multisite installation of WordPress creates media URLs like:

    https://wpdomain.com/subsite/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/image.png

which work fine. I then changed the uploads folder from “wp-content/uploads” to “files” using HMWP. This changes media URLs to:

    https://wpdomain.com/subsite/files/sites/2/image.png

Which gives a 404. What’s going on? I thought HMWP was multisite compatible.

Hi, HMWP is compatible with WP multisite. For multisite, you’ll need to add HMWP rules manually to htaccess file. In HMWP start tab, click on “multisite configuration” button, copy the rules and paste it in htaccess file as mentioned there.
