Yes, you’ll need to manually update HMWP rules in htaccess file every time you change any settings in HMWP (as you are using bulletproof security plugin). You can do this by clicking on “manual configuration” button in HMWP General Settings tab and then following the steps as mentioned there (you’ll need to overwrite previous HMWP rules with new ones in htacess file).

DO you have CDN URL? If the site breaks after applying HMWP settings then most probably it’s htaccess issue. I tried to login to your site with above credentials but I cannot access login page. Can you please check?
Regarding IDS, if you don’t want to receive alerts then please set “notify threshold” to 0 in IDS Firewall tab.
